An amplification of AY’s Open Mic Comedy Competition, which was birthed in 2006 and discovered comedy stars such as Seyilaw, Elenu, Emeka Smith, Acappella, Ajebo, Akpororo to name a few.
Given the current paucity of platforms dedicated towards the development of comedy talents, the Next Naija Comedy Star Season Reality Show was created to provide an Interactive Platform that is based on the premise of harnessing these ‘diamonds in the rough’, polishing them through a sifting process and presenting them to a global stage.
The Maiden edition of The Next Naija Comedy Star reality show was held in 2020, organized by Nigerian comedian AY Makun.
Aproko emerged as the winner of the show, taking home a grand prize of ₦5 million and a brand new car.
The judges for the competition included renowned comedians Ali Baba, I Go Dye, MC Acapella, and MC Shakara.
The finale featured a performance by Nigerian music star Teni, who celebrated with Aproko after his win.
